Explore changes in the arts and humanities by immersing yourself in the culture of London, one of the creative capitals of the world, through:
Find the program application and further information at the Office of Study Abroad's site for the program.
Program application deadline: 1 March 2016
The program includes two courses, both required:
*Students who have already taken IAH courses can take the course as AL491. Students who do not have the pre-requisite for a second-level IAH course can receive an override to enroll in this program.
Both courses can count toward the Digital Humanities minor. Students in the study abroad program only require two additional Digital Humanities classes plus a capstone or internship to complete the minor. Further information about the requirements of the minor can be found elsewhere on this site here.
Aside from a weekend field trip to Manchester and Liverpool, we will be based in London for the entire 4 weeks of the program. Staying in one city allows us to visit many museums and cultural events around the city. Classes will mostly be held on-site. We also will have classroom time and space, along with student services support based out of the ACCENT offices in London, located at 12 Bedford Square [just behind the British Museum, and across the street from University College London].
Students will be housed in apartments with their classmates around London. Specific locations will be assigned in the Spring; all apartments are located within zones 1 and 2 of London's underground metro system, so students will not have lengthy commutes to class. All apartments have kitchens, and students are encouraged to explore London's markets and grocery stores as a part of their immersion experience.
